
Recalls have been going on all the time within the automotive department this year. Accelerator pedals were defective in Toyota automobiles at one point this year. That was probably the biggest recall that happened. One more Toyota recall shows that at least the automaker is consistent. This recall may not be as pervasive, as fewer automobiles are involved. Toyota only had to recall a few model years that are only on two different cars offered. This recall will be hurting Toyota although it is really small. Toyota hasn’t recovered from the last recall and so this will be a hit.
And now, the next Toyota recall
There have been various recalls from Toyota. Toyota recalls are fairly regular right about now. There has also been a new recall just released to the public. The problem being addressed by this Toyota recall is with the engines in more than 1.3 million automobiles. There is a problem with the engine control module. The defect can affect shifting or cause the engine to stall while driving and keep the motor from beginning, as outlined by CNN. There have been accidents from the problem. Of course, the accidents have been few.
Recall 1 million cars to fix
The models in question are the Toyota Corolla and also the Toyota Matrix. The model years are from 2005 to 2008. The circuit board can crack in the Engine Control Module which is in the 1ZZ-FE engineThe 1ZZ-FE has engine has a significant problem. The circuit board can crack in the Engine Control Module, which is not good. The engine could have the shifting affected in it. Also, the engine might shut off while you drive. Engines may also be unable to start. There are 1.13 million vehicles in the U.S. and an additional 200,000 in Canada that could possibly be affected. According to the Los Angeles Times, this will bring the number of autos Toyota has recalled this year to about 10 million. The models are investigated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
After years of market share Toyota can do no right
Toyota, in the past few years, had captured market share of U.S. auto sales. The lead was tenuous at best, and this may be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler would be happy to take some of those customers back.
